How to change account picture on Windows 11

On Windows 11, when you create an account using a Microsoft account, it will get your online profile picture, and if you create a local account, the system will assign a generic image.

If you prefer to display a different image, you can change the Windows 11 account picture to anything you want to make the experience a little more personal.

This guide will teach you the steps to change the picture for your Windows 11 account.

Change account picture on Windows 11

To change your Windows 11 account picture:

1. Open Start on Windows 11.

2. Search for Settings and click the top result to open the app.

3. Click on Accounts.

4. Click the Your info page on the right side.

5. In the “Choose a file” setting, click the Browse files button.

6. Select the new picture for your Windows 11 account.

7. Click the Choose picture button.

8. (Optional) In the “Take a photo” section, click the Open Camera button.

9. Capture a picture for the account.

Once you complete the steps, the account will reflect the new changes.

Change Windows 11 account picture from a Microsoft account

To choose a different account photo through the Microsoft account online:

1. Open Microsoft account online.

2. Click the Your Info tab.

3. Click the Change photo button.

6. Click the Open button.

7. Click the Save button.

After you complete the steps, the new account picture will sync across your devices logged in with the same Microsoft account.

While it’s possible to change the account photo, this option is only available for administrators and standard accounts, not on guest accounts.
