Although Microsoft has confirmed that Windows 11 will be a free upgrade for Windows 10 devices, the company also confirmed that the new operating system will have different hardware requirements. This means that not all systems will be compatible with the new operating system.

According to the company’s documentation, Windows 11 will require a 64-bit processor, 4GB of RAM, and 64GB of storage as the minimum. To check if your PC’s hardware configuration is compatible with Windows 11, use these steps:

1. Download the Windows 11 PC Health Check installer.

2. Double-click the WindowsPCHealthCheckSetup.msi file.

3. Click the I accept the terms in the License Agreement option.

4. Click the Install button.

5. Check the Open Windows PC Health Check option.

7. Under the “Introducing Windows 11” section, click the Check now button.

Once you complete the steps, if the hardware is compatible, you will receive a message that reads: “Great news – this PC meets all the system requirements for Windows 11, and it’s free. We’ll let you know when it’s ready to install.” If the hardware isn’t compatible, then you will get a message that reads: “While this PC doesn’t meet the system requirements to run Windows 11, you’ll keep getting Windows 11 updates.”

If you get the message that the new version isn’t supported, you may need to check the UEFI/BIOS and make secure that TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot are enabled.
