How to enable Spotlight desktop on Windows 11

On Windows 11, Microsoft is bringing a new feature known as Spotlight collection, which changes the desktop background automatically every day with different images from around the world.

If the feature sounds familiar, it’s because this is the same feature available for the Lock screen, which the company is adapting for the Windows 11 desktop.

Spotlight for the desktop is available starting with build 22518, and if you have a device enrolled in the Dev Channel of the Windows Insider Program, you can enable it from the Background settings.

This guide will teach you the steps to set dynamic background images on the Windows 11 desktop.

Enable Spotlight desktop on Windows 11

To enable Spotlight collection for the desktop on Windows 11, use these steps:

1. Open Settings.

2. Click on Personalization.

3. Click the Background page on the right side.

4. Under the “Personalize your background” section, select the Spotlight collection option.

   

Once you complete the steps, the first desktop wallpaper will automatically be set on the desktop, and the background image will change during the day. You will also see the Spotlight icon on the desktop that lets you change the image quickly. You will get the options to like or dislike so that future photos will be more tailored to your likings, and if you like the picture, you can double-click the icon to open the browser to find out more information.
