How to disable Taskbar weather widget on Windows 11

On Windows 11, starting with build 22518, the Widgets icon has been moved to the left side of the Taskbar, and it now includes the weather information and opens the Widgets dashboard as you hover over the icon, similar to the “news and internets” widget available on Windows 10.

Although this feature might be useful for some, it’s not for everyone since it adds unnecessary distractions, and you can end up accidentally opening it as you hover over it.

If you don’t want the weather information in the Taskbar, Windows 11 includes an option to disable or enable the feature through the Taskbar settings page.

In this guide, you will learn the steps to enable or disable the Widgets buttons with the weather information that appears on the left side of the Taskbar on Windows 11.

Disable weather icon on Taskbar

To disable the Widgets weather icon from Taskbar, use these steps:

  1. Open Settings on Windows 11.

  2. Click on Personalization.

    .Windows_Software_Technology-Big-343 { display:inline-block; width: 300px; height: 600px; } @media(min-width: 500px) { .Windows_Software_Technology-Big-343 { width: 300px; height: 600px;} }
  3. Click the Taskbar page on the right side.

  4. Under the “Taskbar items” section, turn off the Widgets toggle switch.

    Weather Widgets disable option

Once you complete the steps, the icon with the weather information on the left side will be removed from the Taskbar. However, you can still access the Widgets dashboard using the Windows key + W keyboard shortcut.

Enable weather icon on the Taskbar

To enable the Widgets weather icon in the Taskbar, use these steps:

  1. Open Settings.

  2. Click on Personalization.

  3. Click the Taskbar page on the right side.

  4. Under the “Taskbar items” section, turn on the Widgets toggle switch.

    Weather Widgets enable option

After you complete the steps, the Widgets icon with the weather and temperature information will appear on the left side if all the Taskbar items have a center alignment. If you have all the Taskbar items aligned to the left, only the Widgets icon will appear to the right side of the Start button.
